CWS-Pakistan/Afghanistan Hold First Interschool Competition on HIV and AIDS Awareness

Karachi, Pakistan -- On November 16, 2006, CWS-Pakistan/Afghanistan (CWS-P/A) held the first of its kind Interschool Competition on HIV and AIDS Awareness. The event consisted of a Speech, Slogan and Quiz competition. 200 adolescent students from various schools in Sindh participated in the event. Certificates of participation and medals were distributed amongst the winning students of each competition event.
The event was greatly appreciated by students and teachers, who felt that such events should be held more regularly, so that people can learn more about the issue and be able to protect themselves and their families from HIV.
The next step for CWS-P/A is to hold HIV and AIDS awareness-raising sessions with these children in their schools. CWS-P/A has been actively working with school children for three years now specifically on the issue of HIV and AIDS.
