Church World Service is providing financial and technical support to five local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and one NGO network with 24 NGO members in Kompong Thom Province. Technical support is focusing on building partner capacity in organizing and developing program, management and team building, financial and activity monitoring, networking, and advocacy. To accomplish this, the NGOs are taking part in formal training, learning exchanges and exposure visits, mentoring activities, and coaching.
CWS's support is helping the NGOs to address the basic needs of the community--access to clean drinking water, preventive health care, training in improved agricultural techniques, and access to credit for income generating activities. The Kompong Thom Partnership project expects to implement a range of agricultural and income generation projects benefiting some 8,600 families.
The goal of CWS-Cambodia is to build a strong civil society that impacts positively on the standard of living of poor and vulnerable people, the equality of women, and overall peace. CWS's Kompong Thom Partnership Program is helping to form community-based organizations and self-help groups whose activities are focused on rural credit, food production, access to water, sustainable agriculture, and animal husbandry.
Support for Church World Service helps make this program possible.
