The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chile works with low-income families in the El Bosque and San Ramon communities of Santiago, Chile, to develop strategies to improve life and health. Most participants are women, other adults, and adolescents who are unaware of the risks and their vulnerability to AIDS, and do not know what preventive and educational resources are available to them.

EPES is networking with health groups and community organizations to exchange information and opportunities, and to develop new community models to improve and educate about health.

Women's groups in El Bosque are also working with EPES through the El Bosque Community Network and an AIDS prevention campaign to educate women on their risks and high vulnerability to AIDS. EPES expects the women's groups to increase in number and to improve their capacity to educate about AIDS. Finally, it is expected that the organizations integrated in networking activities will recognize health as a human right for advocacy strategies.
