Prevention & Protection to Children Victims of Sexual Abuse, Nicaragua

In cooperation with local partner Human Promotion Institute, this Nicaraguan component of CWS's Regional Program on Vulnerable Children and Youth supports grassroots advocacy and direct-service efforts aimed at preventing and eradicating sexual exploitation of children working in five markets and two barrios of Managua, the nation's capital.

The project is providing government officials, 350 children ages 10-18 who work in the markets, and their parents -- along with ordinary citizens -- information on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children in Nicaragua – and how to prevent and eradicate it. Some 200 girls, victims of sexual abuse and exploitation, are receiving care and counseling in a safe environment.
