Churches Response to Gang Violence in Central America

Comunidad Cristiana Mesoamericana (CCM)
The Mesoamerican Christian Community

Gang violence -- along with poverty -- is one of the main challenges to emerging democracies in Central America. CWS partner, Comunidad Cristiana Mesoamericana, is carrying out research and consultation in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua with the aim of understanding how local churches and their members -- particularly women and youth -- are affected by and responding to gang violence.

The project is assisting participating churches and local ecumenical agencies in the preparation of comprehensive national assessments and conferences.
