April 16 – 23 is the Week of Action for Trade Justice. Faith-based organizations, environmental groups, and anti-poverty charities all agree more just trade relationships and policies are critical to realizing a more equitable world. Indeed, trade justice is a matter of life and death for many millions of people around the world. The April Week of Action is organized ahead of key meetings at the World Trade Organization, World Bank and International Monetary Fund. For more information, see www.interaction.org/campaign/week_action_justice.html.
Global trade can either promote or hinder justice, peace and sustainable economic development. Trade on unequal terms creates and maintains inequities, leading to violence, conflict and environmental destruction. CWS is part of a global network working to tackle the negative impact of international trade rules on the world's most impoverished people. Your role in this effort is vital.
During this week you can:
- Learn more about the call for more trade justice
- Meditate on how the Biblical call to justice relates to global trade issues
- Contact members of Congress to take a stand for more just trade policies.
