Liturgies in Response to Terrorist Events
Litany from Psalm 28

L. To you, O God, we call; our rock do not refuse to hear us.
C. My world has been shaken to its foundation and I feel my cries unheard in the chaos.

L. For if you are silent to us, we will be like those who went down to the pit.
C. I need your comfort and saving presence. Teach me that I am not alone.

L. Hear the voice of our supplications as we cry out to you for help.
C. You hear every cry of your children and feel the drop of every tear.

L. We lift up our hands to your most holy sanctuary.
C. You take my hand and hold me. Your love will never let me go.

L. Blessed be God, who has heard the sound of our pleadings.
C. Your strength gives power to my voice. I am forgiven and healed.

L. God is our strength and our shield.
C. My heart trusts in you and lives.

L. God is the strength of God’s people.
C. You are my saving refuge. Grant me peace.

L. God saves God’s people and blesses God’s heritage.
C. Be my shepherd, and carry each lost sheep home.
