Take a walk in their shoes: A Refugee's Journey

Fleeing persecution

Refugees flee their homeland due to a well-founded fear of persecution. Many leave under the same terror-stricken circumstances that Nushe Hadrjonaj experienced, full of fear and separated from loved ones. Refugees cross a border out of their homeland and into another country. Many seek shelter from relatives or openhearted strangers, but most have few options for safety and shelter. These refugees often live in squalid conditions in cities or in the difficult circumstances of a refugee camp.
