Life in a refugee camp

In a camp, refugees are provided with the most basic of supplies: plastic sheeting for tents, food and a communal spigot for water. Refugees must toil each day to maintain their living space, carry water and cook meals.

Doctors from international humanitarian agencies often provide much-needed health care. When refugees are in camps for long periods of time, many establish classrooms so that refugee children do not miss opportunities for continuing education.
