When to go: Your case worker will set up the appointment for testing for ESL classes and let you know where the classes are held and when you should take your family. Anyone who is not in school or does not speak conversational English and is eligible to work should go to English classes.
Important: The first appointment for testing only (not classes) is located at CareerLink (see below). Classes are held in three different locations, which will be given to you at your appointment.
Where to go: CareerLink is located at 1016 Charlotte Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. Get a map and/or driving directions to CareerLink by using Google Maps.
What to do: As you enter the CareerLink building from the Charlotte Street side, you will see a desk on your left and a small staircase directly in front of you. Go down that staircase and turn to your left. Follow the little yellow arrows that you will see on the walls labeled with “ESL” to the end of the hallway, until you reach a cafeteria-style room. Cross through that room, and turn in the doorway on your right. There will be a classroom in front of you. On your right, you will see a room where they will perform the orientation. Give your name to the receptionist, and tell them that you are there for the orientation. Wait for further instructions.
What you need: Bring all of your documents if you have them: passport, I-94 cards, and Employment Authorization Document.
English Classes will be offered at one of three locations. CareerLink will tell you which location to go to and will give you a map to the specific location.
