The Cuban/Haitian Resettlement Program assists Cubans and Haitians fleeing oppression in their homelands. Through funding by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement/Office of International Affairs, the program is designed to provide basic reception services and help Cuban and Haitian entrants attain a level of self-sufficiency by orienting them to the culture of America.
The program assists the refugees in finding appropriate housing and securing basic furniture, kitchen and bath supplies, as well as giving an orientation and referrals to other service agencies and community resources. As soon as possible, Cuban and Haitian entrants are enrolled in English as a Second Language classes and assisted in beginning to search for employment.
