The Employment Program is funded by the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement and serves approximately 190 clients per year. Eligible clients include refugees, asylees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, victims of trafficking, and Amerasians, all of whom must have arrived in the U.S. or derived their status within five years.

Caseworkers meet with clients to assess their educational background, skills, and work experience. They then help the client prepare a resume and proceed to contact area employers until an appropriate placement is made. The caseworker follows up with the client and the new employer until the client has been employed for 90 days.

Casework includes but is not limited to:

  • interpretation/translation at interviews, orientations, etc.;
  • clarifying new job expectations;
  • training and job preparation;
  • intake procedure;
  • transportation to interviews; and
  • follow-up.

Clients are eligible for a job upgrade or another job placement at any time within five years of arrival or of obtaining eligible status.
