We Invite Your Support

Our Commitment:

To see each person as a child of God.

Her name is "hope."

Born in Africa, she has a 1 in 7 chance of dying before her fifth birthday. Because she lives in a country where more than 35% of the adult population is infected with HIV/AIDS, her odds of being orphaned and/or afflicted herself are extremely high. Every year, a million more children in Africa lose one or both parents to aids.

Because there is no safe source of clean drinking water nearby, she is at risk of developing a deadly intestinal infection, the type of infection that kills more children than hunger.

Because she is a girl, there may be minimal opportunity for her to learn to read and write. She will not know her civil rights and may never vote for those who govern her.

Because her village has been destroyed by civil conflicts and violence, her daily bread is poverty. She is displaced and seeks refuge miles away in a neighboring country not her own.

She is without political influence and is at risk of becoming a child slave. There is little she can do to shape a better life for herself.

She is just one child... but she represents millions. We invite you to join us in our commitment to her and to all of the young girls and boys like her who, with their families and communities, are Africa’s future.

Join the Africa Initiative — a journey of partnership and hope.
