Water is a precious resource for everyone. Use it carefully. Adelino knows how to do that! Church World Service helps to dig wells in many parts of the world so people can have safe water to drink. You can help!
Day One: Keep track of the water you use today. Try to estimate it in quarts (four cups). Donate 10 cents to CWS for each quart of water you think you used.
Day Two: As a family, record each time any family member uses water today. At the end of the day, imagine carrying that much water from a well several blocks from your house every day.
Day Three: Is there an English as a Second Language program in your community to help new residents learn English? Sometimes the students need places to practice their English. Why not ask about inviting one or two students to your home to talk with your family?
Day Four: CWS can provide tools to farmers for $25. How many garden or landscaping tools are in your house? If you donate $1 for each tool, how close do you come to $25?
Day Five: Go to the CWS website www.buildavillage.org and explore Imani's village. Then do one of the fun things in the "Activities and Games" section.
Day Six: Walk into each room of your house. How many plants can you find? Look out the windows of your house? What plants do you see? Give thanks to God, creator of all living things.
Day Seven: Pray for Adelino's family and the people of Angola that they may continue to live in peace.
