We giraffes don't go to school, of course. But isn't it great that both girls and boys can go to school in Kenya now? Still, they need many more school supplies to help them learn. You can help by providing CWS School Kits.
Day One: Go to the CWS website www.buildavillage.org and take the quiz on education.
Day Two: Learning to read may be the most important thing needed to improve one's life. How many books are in your house? Give 2 cents for each book to support the work of CWS. It takes $25 to place one person into a program to learn how to read. Can you collect enough money for one person?
Day Three: Most people in the United States live near a library. How long does it take you to get to a library? Decide on an amount of money to give CWS for each minute you travel to the library.
Day Four: Read about Africa today in a book, an encyclopedia, or on the Internet. What did you discover about this large continent? Tell your family what you learned.
Day Five: Pray for children in Kenya and elsewhere in Africa that they may have safe and well-equipped schools.
Day Six: Go shopping together for items for a School Kit. See the list on the Activities page.
Day Seven: Read Proverbs 24:26 with your family. Together, add up the number of years of school that your family has attended. Decide how much to give for each year of schooling to support Church World Service.
