Joint Voluntary Agency (JVA) is a program administered by Church World Service (CWS), which is an international NGO registered in Kenya. JVA is primarily responsible for implementing an operational refugee-processing program in Eastern and Southern sub-Saharan Africa on behalf of the Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.
We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Caseworker, a position based in Nairobi (Kenya) with opportunities to travel throughout Eastern and Southern Africa. Interviews will be held both in Nairobi and over the phone. Both prospective candidates and successful applicants are expected to arrange and pay for their own travel and expenses traveling to and from Nairobi, and for their accommodations in Nairobi. This includes travel home at the end of their employment with JVA.

This position is primarily responsible for conducting personal interviews with refugee applicants in order to obtain biographic and demographic information to complete a refugee case history as required by JVA and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This involves frequent travel to refugee camps in sub-Saharan Africa. This position reports directly to the Assistant Supervisor for Field Team Leaders and Caseworkers and works closely with other field team staff and interpreters.
