Day
One: |
Walking
is dangerous in a country with landmines. Walk completely around
the outside of your house or apartment building. Give 1¢ for each
step you take. |
Day
Two: |
People
have lost hands from touching landmines. Try to eat a meal with only
one hand. Then give a special offering to the CWS Tools
& Blankets Program. |
Day
Three: |
An
expert can clear about two square yards of landmines in an hour.
With your parents help, measure a two-square-yard space in your yard.
How long would it take to clear your whole yard? Give 5¢ for each
hour you estimate. |
Day
Four: |
It
costs $300 to $1,000 to remove one landmine. If you saved 25¢ a day,
how long would it take to save $300? Begin today, giving 25¢ for
each year you have lived. |
Day
Five: |
The
U.S. has not passed the Landmine Ban Treaty. Write to the President
about why you think it is important to have such a treaty. |
Day
Six: |
Some
people who step on landmines never walk again. Recall all the places
you walked today. Pray for the victims of landmines. |
Day
Seven: |
In
Cambodia, people melt old landmines into bells for their oxen and
water buffalo. Place a bell on your dinner table as a reminder of
the landmine issue. Tell others about it when they eat with you. |
