Imani Paper Chains
(10 minutes)
Materials: Paper chain pattern, lightweight cardboard, pencils, large sheets of colored paper or animal print wrapping paper, scissors, felt pens or crayons.
Procedure:
- Trace the paper chain pattern below onto lightweight cardboard and cut out several patterns following the outline of the giraffe's body.
- Cut colored paper into 5 ½ by 14-inch strips.
- Fold the strip in half lengthwise, and then fold in half again being sure that the edges line up.
- Center the pattern over the folded paper with edges on the folds. Use a pencil to draw around the pattern.
- Cut out the animal through all the layers of the paper. DO NOT cut on the fold line indicated on the pattern.
- Decorate the giraffes with felt pens or markers, if desired.
