  • AoC partner provided clean water for 41,000 residents of the poor neighborhood of Hay Tariq for 10.5 months.

  • 41,000,000 liters were delivered through morning and evening daily distributions.

  • The water tankering ended when a new public water system for the community was finished and delivering clean water to every home.

  • 10,320 plastic jerry cans were distributed as part of the project so residents would have sanitary containers to transport the water home. Each family received 1,2, or 3 jerry cans depending on the size of the family.

  • Community health improved during the period of this clean water project. The clinic in Hay Tariq recorded 165 fewer diarrhea cases in children under 5 in July 2004 then in July 2003 (a 25% reduction).
