- The project consisted of two phases:
- First Phase: This project sent
the first post-war humanitarian convoy into Iraq. It left Amman, Jordan
April 10th; the day after the Baath Regime fell in Baghdad. This convoy
delivered the following supplies to 6 pediatric hospitals in Baghdad:
- 400 Blankets, 32 wheelchairs, 800 bedding kits (kit = 2 bed sheets, 1 pillow, 1 pillowcase)
- Second Phase: AoC partner did an assessment
of 21 hospitals in Baghdad the third week of April to determine
their current most urgent needs. In consultation with hospital personnel
it was decided to support the hospitals with food for a two week
period. Specifically:
- fresh food for 21 hospitals – approx.
2500 beneficiaries
- eggs, cheese, tomato, potato, onion, cabbage and orange provided to each person per day
- milk powder for 18
hospitals – approx. 1037 beneficiaries
- 45 grams (about ½ cup) provided to each person per day
- dry food for 7 hospitals – approx.
500 beneficiaries
- rice, flour, tea, beans, tomato sauce, sugar, salt and oil provided to each person per day
- fresh food for 21 hospitals – approx.
