CWS/ERP Situation Report: Fall Storms 2006

October 13, 2006

Flooding during the past week has occurred in Virginia and Ohio and follows earlier flooding in September that affected several counties in Indiana.

The flooding in Virginia affected homes and businesses in Franklin, Va., where the Blackwater River overflowed its banks Tuesday (Oct. 10); some 65 businesses and 15 homes sustained damage, according to Disaster News Network (DNN).

The flooding in Ohio occurred Oct. 5 following severe storms that affected areas of central and southern Ohio, forcing residents of Ross and Pike counties to evacuate their homes. Some 60-70 homes were flooded and roads damaged in an area near Lake White.

The September flooding in Indiana prompted a federal declaration in Lake and Vanderburgh counties.
