CWS situation report: 2007 Texas flooding update

Seventeen counties are federally-declared disaster area, with more expected
Federal Emergency Management Agency census indicates at least 463 homes destroyed in 46 affected counties
There are at least 3,484 FEMA registrations for assistance in 46 affected counties

Vunerable Communities Watch

Counties with high FEMA assistance registrations also have high poverty levels:

Cooke County (630 applications, 13.4 percent of community below poverty level)
Grayson County (695 applications, 13.6 percent of community below poverty level)
Tarrant County (470 applications, 12.8 percent of community below poverty level)
Grayson, Cooke Counties appear to have significant numbers of undocumented immigrants affected

Emergency Response Specialists Heriberto Martinez and Lesli Remaly-Netter will deploy from July 26 to August 3 to provide preliminary overview training to leaders of emerging long-term recovery groups and plan three to four day-long comprehensive trainings on the long-term recovery process
An appeal will be issued in support of material resources, training, project support and emergency response grants
