CWS situation report: Morowali and Central Sulawesi (Indonesia) floods and landslides
August 16, 2007Distribution by Church World Service Indonesia of relief items in the wake of several weeks of heavy rains, floods and
landslides in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, continues. Among the areas most seriously affected have been the sub-districts of North Bungku, Maosalato, Soyo Jaya and Petisia.
In a report earlier this week, CWS staff reported that CWS has distributed Hygiene Kits, water storage containers and bath towels in the villages of Kalombang, Tirongan Atas, Woomparigi, Tanahkuraya, and Opo as part of ongoing relief efforts.
Distribution this week: 994 Hygiene Kits for 994 households, and 992 water storage containers and towels to 992 households.
CWS has conducted assessment on water supply from the existing dug wells in several areas. The assessment includes: water quality checking, any assistance provided by other organizations, the use of dug wells before and after floods and the number of households dependent on the wells. Assessment on emergency shelter needs has also been conducted in Ueruru and Uewajo villages.
In its response, CWS Indonesia continues to work closely with other members of the Action by Churches Together (ACT) International network.
