CWS & UCC begin safety equipment distribution in Kansas
As hundreds return to muck out and salvage flooded homes in southeast
Kansas, ministers in hard-hit Montgomery County (which includes
Coffeyville, left, which also experienced oil damage) will distribute
protective coveralls, gloves, goggles, respirators and antibacterial
wipes to all who need it. CWS joined its member denomination, the
United Church of Christ (UCC), in providing safety gear and informational
literature on safely entering flood-damaged homes.
ERP training at work in Kansas
As CWS denominational partners work in areas damaged by summer
flooding to unite faith and community groups into long-term recovery
organizations, the CWS Emergency Response Program is providing
training to help the groups learn basics and best practices of
unmet needs committees. Emergency Response Specialist (ERS) Lesli
Remaly-Netter (right) is leading training this week in three sessions
across Kansas.
