CWS Assists in Wildfire Recovery
Emergency Response Specialist (ERS) Joann Hale is in California assessing damage from recent devastating wildfires that left 15 dead and destroyed hundreds of homes. Hale will evaluate the need for training and material resources, and determine any potential recovery projects. CWS already provided 400 CWS Cleanup Buckets (left) for the response.
ERP at Work in Hurricane-Hit Carribean
Hurricane Noel struck the Dominican Republic November 4, displacing more than
66,000 and killing 18. ERP staffer Don Tatlock is in the Dominican Republic,
liaising with Action by Churches Together partner Social Service of Dominican
Churches (SSID). Tatlock will assist SSID in developing a broader response plan
to the disaster.
ERS News
ERS Lura Cayton (left) recently led training for newly-formed long-term recovery
organizations in Ohio, formed after August flooding in the north Central part
of the state. CWS is working with six recovery groups, represented by more than
20 persons at the training event. Also, Cayton was called on to help leaders
of the Louisiana Interfaith Disaster Recovery Network as it takes shape as an
official organization.
Material Resources Update
CWS shipped 1,000 blankets, at a value of $5,000 to Iglesia Cristiana Ebenezer
