
The U.S. resettles refugees in partnership with nine private
voluntary agencies like Church World Service and one state government agency.
Refugees registered with UNHCR and referred by that organization or U.S. embassies
are pre-screened by overseas processing stations, the International Organization
for Migration (IOM) or by contracted U.S. government staff.
