Trainees at the CWS-supported Bissian Construction Trade Training Center, just outside of Balakot City, have honed their construction skills and built this first home. The construction employs a simple technology of pressed straw and plaster as a basic building material. Such homes are quake resistant, environmentally friendly, and well-insulated against the harsh mountain weather. The CWS program is in conjunction with DOSTI, a local Pakistani partner.
