Visitors from the United States and the Netherlands visit the first home constructed by trainees at the Bissian Construction Trade Training Center, just outside of Balakot City. “We’re providing them a skill as tradesmen and to help their communities rebuild,” Ali Awais, 25, the energetic administrator of the center, said of the work of the trainees, resulting in this earthquake-resistant home. “It becomes a project not only for themselves, but for their families and communities, too.”
