Recovery in Indonesia - Abu Bakar Mahmud
Abu Bakar Mahmud and his wife, Nazariah, are among those helping rebuild the village of Meue in one of Aceh province’s battered coastal areas. Life has not been easy since the December 2004 tsunami, but they and other villagers have found ways to begin getting the village back on a stronger footing. A partnership with Church World Service has resulted in housing construction and new boats to help the community get its fishing fleet back to work. “We're strong, resilient people," said Abu Bakar Mahmud.
