Recovery in Indonesia - Indra Rerungan
Indra Rerungan, a Church World Service staffer working with the village of Meue on reconstruction efforts, said there are a host of challenges in rebuilding in Aceh: from land and title rights to making sure that lumber used is not gathered from illegal logging, a perennial problem in Indonesia. But CWS staff and volunteers within the community have worked hard to face these challenges. One key to success? “We want to be sure to use local resources and people – not outside contractors.” That helps ensure local participation and empowerment.
