Filing for a Relative
If you think your relative qualifies for Priority-3 processing in Africa, and/or to file a Visa 92/93, you must go to a local affiliate office of one of the 10 voluntary agencies resettling refugees in the United States. Call or visit the office and inquire about filing for your refugee relatives. Office staff will help you determine if your relative(s) might qualify. Staff will also assist you in filing the proper paperwork - an Affidavit of Relationship (AOR) or I-730.
Once the application is completed , local office staff will forward it to their national office. Staff from the national office will review the application for accuracy before forwarding it to the Refugee Processing Center. Applications must be accepted by the RPC and USCIS unit in Washington, D.C., before they can be sent on to OPE/Accra, where staff create a file for each refugee family.
Please note that the process for filing for refugee relatives is lengthy. Staff from the local affiliate office where you filed the paperwork will contact you when there is any news about your relative's case.
