TEENS REACT TO TSUNAMI NEEDS
Students at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, under the leadership of Mrs. Micheline Lerch, have been supporters of Church World Service programs for many years. These teens are an integral part of the Flemington CROP Hunger Walk (New Jersey) each year and have an annual CWS Kits drive. The first question they asked after the tsunami disaster was "What can we do?" And with that began a month-long flurry of organizing, collecting, soliciting donations, and setting up assembling days to put together Health Kits. The Flemington Rotary Club offered their help, local businesses contributed items, other schools began their own drives, Scout Troops offered donations and help, and the momentum continues. To date, the school's Interact Club has assembled about 1,000 Kits, with recent help from Brownie Troop #324, second graders at Robert Hunter School.
