U.S. HURRICANE RECOVERY CONTINUES

CWS continues to work tirelessly in response to hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne - the summer 2004 storms that caused more than 130 fatalities in the United States, damaged more than 100,000 homes, and displaced tens of thousands. Tim Johnson (left) and other CWS Disaster Response & Recovery Liaisons are assisting faith community leaders, local and state voluntary agencies, and government-based disaster personnel in Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico. Their combined efforts are helping in the formation and work of some 50 long-term recovery groups, which help low-income residents and others with special needs.
