Nuradin Muradov proudly holds grandson, Suleyman, as his wife, Zukhrakhan, and granddaughter Aygul look on. The family arrived in Richmond, Virginia, in 2005, to start a new life after fleeing their home in Uzbekistan, barefoot and without any possessions, to escape ethnic fighting. Since then, their two grown sons have gotten good jobs as cabinetmakers.
