Church World Service, in collaboration with The New York City Distance Learning Coalition, has designed and is making available an interactive Immigration and Naturalization Law course covering the basics of family immigration, asylum and other pertinent topics. The materials used in the course are offered at no cost to non-profit organizations who may wish to offer this course to their employees or volunteers.
The course is designed to be offered over a period of 10 weeks and includes slide presentations, questions and answers, and hypotheticals. The course consists of 12 units, providing a basic and general overview of current immigration and naturalization law, legal ethics, and selected issues regarding the management of immigration programs.
Access to these immigration law course materials is open to non-profit agencies working with immigrant and refugee communities on immigration matters or matters where immigration status is relevant to services provided. The course may be particularly appealing to individuals seeking accreditation from the Board of Immigration Appeals to offer legal services to the immigrant community. Please note that these materials are not available to private attorneys or employees of for-profit businesses.
Interested non-profit organizations should download, complete and submit a request for access to the course materials. Interested organizations must provide general information about the organization and sign a statement of understanding.
