Speaking out in partnership
Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute.... defend the rights of the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:8-9
Speaking out for those who can't. Our connection to partners in the U.S. and around the world informs and inspires our work in education and advocacy. Confronting the root causes of hunger is an essential complement to our overseas work. By raising awareness about poverty, the HIV/AIDS epidemic, human rights and peace-building, CWS brings the voices of our partners into the halls of churches, community groups and our government.
Join us in calling the U.S. government, the United Nations, and key international institutions to formulate policies responsive to the needs of impoverished people around the world. You can change the world.
On the Middle East, during Advent 2009 During the Holy Season of Advent, when much of the Christian world through song, story and pageantry looks toward Bethlehem as the earthly birthplace of Jesus Christ more than 2000 years ago, CWS takes note of an important statement made by Palestinian Christians in Bethlehem at this time. The statement calls for the end of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lives and land, and for the support of churches around the world to achieve that end. CWS shares this message with its ecumenical community for their prayerful consideration. A moment of truth: A word of faith, hope and love from the heart of Palestinian suffering

Enough for All Campaign
Global warming and other changes in climate patterns are dramatically reshaping life on this planet. These changes affect where we can live, the food we grow and eat, the existence of particular species of plants and animals, the prevalence of hunger, poverty and disease, our ability to earn a living or engage in a particular livelihood, as well as whether we can continue certain cultural and spiritual practices.
For everyone on this planet to thrive, those of us who live in wealthy nations must be willing to change how we live. Global warming first and foremost is a justice issue. More than ever before, we must grapple with the question "How much is enough?"
The Enough for All campaign focuses on the critical issue of global warming and demonstrates the positive and successful collaboration across various stakeholders in civil society to address the life giving resource- water- in terms of being most critically impacted by global warming and the defining resource of the 21st century.
