Deputy Director of Development and Humanitarian Assistance

Job Location: Washington, DC

Assist the Director of Development and Humanitarian Assistance (DHA) in the overall management of the programs.  Represent Church World Service (CWS) on Interaction and other Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) working groups related to food and nutrition, disaster response, disaster risk reduction and other development initiatives.  Has primarily responsibility to oversee efforts to raise adequate funds to maintain and expand the current DHA program portfolio especially by the facilitation and coordination of proposal development for submission to the US government and to serve as point person for report submissions if required.  They also will ensure that food and nutrition security programming as part of DHA is strengthened and significantly contribute to organizational learning around development and humanitarian issues by gathering and sharing among regions examples of innovative methodologies in program development (case studies of best practices etc).  They represent Church World Service as requested by the Director of Development and Humanitarian Assistance.

The incumbent in this position is responsible for coordinating principal phases of refugee resettlement program work including processing, arrival arrangements, and maintenance of case files and coordination of placement with the affiliates. An important prerequisite of this work is the ability to work as part of a team in a collegial manner. Some travel may be required.

Cuban/Haitian Program Outreach/Case Worker
Church World Service
Job Location: Lancaster, PA

The Outreach/Caseworker is responsible for providing outreach and case management to the Cuban and Haitian communities for the Bilingual Vocational English as a Second Language Project and the Naturalization Assistance Project as part of the Cuban/Haitian Resettlement Program.  This position will promote the programs and identify eligible clients for placement in the programs as well as provide on-going case management services for clients.

Internship Opportunities with CWS Immigration and Refugee Program

CWS Immigration and Refugee Program (CWS/IRP) provides assistance to displaced persons abroad and works with the State Department and 34 community organizations across the United States to resettle refugees fleeing persecution. The Washington, DC office of CWS/IRP advocates for improvements in humanitarian assistance funding, protection mechanisms, and the U.S. refugee resettlement program. CWS/IRP also advocates for humane, equitable immigration reform that prioritizes family unity and provides a pathway to legal status for undocumented immigrants.
