The following represent some of the many ways Church World Service is creating a rainbow of help and hope -- a beautiful Rainbow of Caring -- through the Tools & Blankets Program. This shipping report does not reflect the transfers of funds in support of international Tools & Blankets Program projects and purchases.

International Shipments


Cuba

  • 500 lightweight blankets to support efforts of partner Cuban Council of Churches.

Democratic Republic of Congo

  • 2,250 lightweight blankets to support efforts of the CWS Global Assistance Program through Fonds Mondial Pour Les Enfants.

  • 2,250 lightweight blankets to support efforts of the CWS Global Assistance Program through Centre Mere Et Enfant De Bumbu.

Ethiopia

  • 2,250 lightweight blankets to support efforts of the CWS Global Assistance Program through Bright Hope Organization.

Ghana

  • 6,500 lightweight blankets to partner Concerned Christian Community for on-going program use.

Jordan

  • 2,600 lightweight blankets to partner Middle East Council of Churches for on-going program use.

Lebanon

  • 1,770 woolen blankets, 500 5-gallon plastic jugs to partner International Orthodox Christian Charities in response to the crisis in Lebanon.

Mexico

  • 750 lightweight and 510 woolen blankets to El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, NM for distribution in Mexico in response to flooding.

  • 500 woolen blankets to Companeros en Ministerio in Chula Vista, CA for distribution to economically disadvantaged in Mexico.

Sierra Leone

  • 4,000 woolen blankets to partner Council of Churches in Sierra Leone for on-going program use.

South Africa

  • 2,250 lightweight blankets to support efforts of the CWS Global Assistance Program through Joint Aid Management.

Zambia

  • 2,250 lightweight blankets to support efforts of the CWS Global Assistance Program through Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia.

Zimbabwe

  • 5,750 lightweight blankets and 2,000 woolen blankets to partner agency Christian Care for on-going program use.

  • 12,500 lightweight blankets to Pilgrim Rest AME Zion Church in Theodore working with Hispanic and fisher-people in response to Hurricane Katrina.

Arizona

  • 200 woolen blankets to First Christian Church in Tucson for use in area homeless shelters.

Colorado

  • 500 woolen blankets to La Puente Home in Alamosa, for distribution to homeless families and individuals in the San Luis Valley.

  • 150 woolen blankets to Taos County Housing Authority for distribution to economically disadvantaged families.

  • 100 woolen blankets to Outreach United Resource Center in Longmont for homeless individuals and families.

  • 60 woolen blankets to CWS refugee resettlement affiliate, Ecumenical Refugee Services in Denver.

Florida

  • 180 woolen blankets to Loaves & Fishes for economically disadvantaged families in Lake, Orange, and Seminole counties.

Illinois

  • 500 woolen blankets to Franciscan Outreach Association for distribution to homeless individuals and families in Chicago.

Iowa

  • 240 woolen blankets to Catholic Worker House in Des Moines for distribution to homeless and economically disadvantaged individuals and families.

  • 30 woolen blankets to Emergency Residence Project in Ames for distribution to homeless and economically disadvantaged individuals and families.

Kansas

  • 200 woolen blankets to United Methodist Mexican American Ministries in Dodge City for economically disadvantaged individuals and families, as well as immigrants from Central and South America settling in the area.

  • 200 woolen blankets to Doorstep, Inc in Topeka for homeless persons and economically disadvantaged families and individuals.

Louisiana

  • 2,750 lightweight blankets and 450 woolen blankets to Four Directions, an agency in Houma providing assistance in response to Hurricane Katrina.

  • 1,000 lightweight blankets to LEAN in Baton Rouge in response to Hurricane Katrina.

  • 800 lightweight blankets to Common Ground Houma in response to Hurricane Katrina.

  • 800 lightweight blankets to Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans in response to Hurricane Katrina.

  • 500 lightweight blankets to Common Ground New Orleans in response to Hurricane Rita.

  • 400 lightweight blankets to the United Houma Nation Relief Center in response to Hurricane Katrina.

  • 50 lightweight blankets to LEAN, an agency providing assistance in Baton Rouge in response to Hurricane Katrina.

  • 50 lightweight blankets to Four Directions in Houma in response to Hurricane Katrina.

Maryland

  • 300 woolen blankets to Helping Up Mission for the homeless in Baltimore.

Massachusetts

  • 200 woolen blankets to Children's Services of Roxbury for homeless and economically disadvantaged families and individuals in the Dorchester area.

Michigan

  • 300 woolen blankets to Degage Ministries for homeless and economically disadvantaged in Grand Rapids.

  • 200 woolen blankets to God's Storehouse in Detroit for distribution to homeless individuals and families.

  • 50 woolen blankets to Salem United Church of Christ in Farmington for distribution to homeless in Detroit.

Minnesota

  • 150 woolen blankets to Housing Access Center for homeless in the Duluth area.

Mississippi

  • 5,000 lightweight blankets to New Chapel CME Church in Meridian in response to Hurricane Katrina.

  • 5,000 lightweight blankets to Presbytery of Mississippi in Biloxi in response to Hurricane Katrina. These blankets will be distributed to families living in travel trailers because their homes have not yet been repaired or rebuilt.

  • 500 lightweight blankets to the Presbytery of Mississippi in Gulfport in response to Hurricane Katrina.

Missouri

  • 1,020 woolen blankets and 1,000 lightweight blankets to Avtar Casino Expo Center in Caruthersville in response to Spring storms.

  • 1,020 woolen blankets to the Salvation Army warehouse in Kansas City for emergency pre-positioning.

Montana

  • 120 woolen blankets to Fort Peck Tribes in Poplar for the elderly and economically disadvantaged.

Nebraska

  • 100 woolen blankets to Siena Francis House in Omaha for homeless individuals.

New Jersey

  • 625 woolen blankets to Bridges Outreach in Chatham for distribution to homeless in Newark and Irvington, NJ and New York City.

  • 150 woolen blankets to Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless for distribution in the Elizabeth area.

  • 50 woolen blankets to Fellowship House of South Camden for homeless and economically disadvantaged in the Camden area.

  • 30 woolen blankets to Chesterfield Baptist Church for distribution to homeless and economically disadvantaged in the greater Philadelphia area.

  • 30 woolen blankets to First Presbyterian Church in Vineland for distribution to homeless and economically disadvantaged in the area.

New Mexico

  • 210 woolen blankets to Project Share in Albuquerque, a program working with homeless persons.

New York

  • 200 woolen blankets to Chenango Fenton Project Concern for homeless and economically disadvantaged individuals and families in the Binghamton area.

  • 200 woolen blankets to Journey's End Refugee Services in Buffalo for refugee resettlement in the area.

North Carolina

  • 50 woolen and 50 lightweight blankets to Burke United Christian Ministries in Morganton in continued response following the 2004 hurricane season.

Ohio

  • 60 woolen blankets to First Baptist Church of Ross for low and no-income families in Appalachia.

Oklahoma

  • 300 woolen blankets to Iron Gate Trust in Tulsa for homeless and economically disadvantaged families and individuals.

Pennsylvania

  • 500 woolen blankets to Outreach Coordination Center for homeless in Philadelphia.

  • 240 woolen blankets to Fruitbelt Farmworker Christian Ministry for migrant farm workers in the Gardners area.

  • 100 woolen blankets to Zion Lutheran Church in Manheim for homeless individuals and families in Lancaster County.

  • 50 woolen blankets to the Emergency Winter Shelter of Market Square Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg for their services to area homeless.

Texas

  • 1,500 lightweight blankets to Rio Grande Conference of the United Methodist Church in El Paso in response to severe flooding in the region.

  • 210 woolen blankets to St. Stephens Food Pantry, a ministry of First United Methodist Church in Port Isabel, for distribution to homeless and economically disadvantaged in the area.

  • 210 woolen blankets to Encounter Community Outreach in Victoria for distribution to homeless and economically disadvantaged in the area.

Utah

  • 500 woolen blankets to Crossroads Urban Center for economically disadvantaged individuals and families in the Salt Lake City area.

Washington

  • 510 woolen blankets to Christian Ministry Network in Hamilton in response to severe flooding.
