Raising the Roof
Hope can be heard in the sounds of construction echoing across the Shomali
Valley, north of Kabul. There, CWS is providing 1,500 returning refugee
and internally-displaced families the materials — including wooden
beams, doors, and windows — needed to reconstruct their homes. The
people are providing the labor. So far, some 1,000 homes have been built,
including the house of Rahmuddin Huzruddin, shown here finishing his roof.
“We are very thankful. This has come at a very crucial time for
us,” he says.
