Tools and Blankets
Weaving a Future

Poverty is widespread among ethnic minority people in parts of northern Laos. Students — such as the young woman pictured at left — taking part in skills training at CWS-supported Luang Prabang Orphanage and other ethnic minority schools find it very difficult to provide even simple hand tools for their training courses.

CWS Tools & Blankets funds provided tools — including locally-made weaving looms, treadle sewing machines, blacksmith anvils and tools, carpentry tools, fishing nets, gardening tools. CWS has also provided roofs for schools, clean water systems, teaching supplies, and teacher training — all tools of hope for children and young adults in northern Laos building a brighter future for themselves and their families.
